A country crumbling down in pieces

Havana 054

Havana September 14/2010

The capital of every country is the display about what the country could offer to their citizens and to the world. In the case of Cuba, the Government had offered to its people the only achievement that had offered throughout 50 years of dictatorship: poverty, destruction and despair.

Where 30, 20, 10, 5 and even 1 year ago there was a building, a movie theatre, a well-known hotel, a building apartment, an iconic store, a market, a club, a simple bar, today there is only a pile of garbage infested with rats and damp.

Havana is a haunted city filled with holes where long ago there was a beautiful architectural structure symbol of its history as a capital city. At night, the dark covers it as a cloak. During the day, Cubans wander around fighting for their life.

In every hole that our capital city exhibit to their citizens, there is a piece of the Castro’s ideological system buried and covered with shame and hypocrisy. Today those pieces are all over Havana and our country, and there will be recovered when we could oust Castro of power, forever.
