International Human Rights Day in Cuba

Today, a group of 30 women belonging to “Ladies in White” marched through the streets of Havana, carrying flowers and walking pacifically, celebrating the International Human Rights Day. During their march around 200 civilians organized by the government jostled and jeered at the dissidents.

The Ladies in White are the wives, mothers and relatives of political prisoners in Cuba, many of them had been keep in prison by the government for their fight against the violations of Human Rights in the island.

But more than any opinion or analysis, the faces and the symbolism of each side talks by itself:

manhood

It is just more than the contrast: the face of the woman between the two young guys yelling  at the Ladies in White is the grimace of the entire embarrassing act against that group of pacific women.

But if somebody still believes this is spontaneous just I have put together two different moments in one montage.

two moments, one face

The picture on the left belongs to the repression against Reinaldo Escobar, husband of the famous blogger Yoani Sanchez. November 26, 2009

In the other hand, on the right, the picture belongs to the same protest against the Ladies in White happened today. December 10, 2009.

Could be just pure coincidence?
